Emma is a dedicated leader in the field of education, with a focus on language and literacy practices. She has a wealth of experience in working with schools to achieve their strategic goals and improve teacher practice. Currently pursuing her Masters of Education, Emma’s expertise lies in understanding how students learn to read and translating this knowledge into evidence-based instruction in the classroom.
One of Emma’s key priorities is emphasizing the crucial role language plays in student learning, both in spoken and written forms. She collaborates with schools to embed this understanding and coaches’ staff in implementing effective strategies to enhance teaching and learning.
Emma ensures that fundamental literacy skills are explicitly taught, addressing the five key pillars of reading instruction: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary development, and comprehension. She values each of these components equally as essential for developing skilled readers.
Through her passion for empowering teachers and students, Emma provides differentiated support by engaging in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), offering feedback through classroom observations, conducting data analysis, and collaborating with school leadership to plan continuous improvement initiatives.
