Mandatory Reporting

If any member of staff suspects any child of being maltreated or abused, they should discuss the matter with the Principal or Assistant Principal immediately. It should be noted that;

  • Mandatory reporting of child abuse is compulsory for all teaching staff
  • The notification is not a breach of professional etiquette or ethics
  • Those who notify are not required to prove the case, they need only notify of suspicions on reasonable grounds
  • The name of the person making the notification is not disclosed
  • Ultimately it is the staff member’s responsibility to ensure a report has been made
  • Advise the Principal of any report
  • Teachers can collect observation notes, disclosed information and behavioural indicators
  • Teachers are advised not to confront parents with their concerns
