Our schoolED Consultants can provide schools with practical advice to implement a robust literacy program including provision of a range of literacy resources, activities and programs for teachers, principals, students and parents. We specialise in supporting teachers to make connections between best practice literacy theory and classroom practice.

For Primary Schools

Our support includes:

  •  Implementation of the Reading and Writing workshop model

  • Demonstration of explicit instruction of literacy skills through core teaching practices such as: modelled reading and writing; shared reading and writing; reading aloud to students; and interactive writing

  • Demonstration of teaching practices for individual students and small instructional groups, including conferring in reading and writing, Guided Reading and Writing, Reciprocal Teaching, Book clubs and Literature groups

  • Advice and practical support to ensure effective implementation of classroom libraries

  • Advice and practical support to ensure effective implementation of writer’s notebooks


For Secondary Schools

Our support includes:

  • Supporting teachers to assist students to develop the knowledge and skills used to understand, create, respond to and manipulate texts, developing literate practices across all learning areas of the curriculum

  • Demonstrating explicit instruction of different literate practices and how they can intertwine across discipline areas

  • Supporting teachers to teach and understand the structure and features of various writing genres that secondary students typically need to read and write
